Nervous
This past week I’ve been sick. My head hurts, my throat hurts, my ear hurts and I’ve been coughing a lot. It stinks. It’s been hard to get out and run. I’m exhausted, I’m sore and I’m nervous I won’t be ready for the 5k.
On Saturday I waked Lake Harriet with my mom and dad. I was hoping to run part of it. Or at least walk it comfortably. I got about...
One Week Down...
… seven to go until the 5k.
So far, I think this is doable. I’m not even thinking about the 1/2 marathon (much). I want to kill this 5k. I’m going to own this 5k. I keep telling myself that at least…
Today was Sunday, which meant it was a rest day. I love rest days. I bought an ice pack and did some reading. I want to know more about my shin splints and the proper way to...
Out of shape & In pain
Holy crap, I’m out of shape! It’s been three days and I’m sore and exhausted, which is pathetic.
The past two days it’s been cold and dreary outside… which has actually made me want to get out there and move. It warms me up. But here’s the problem, I’m not in good enough shape to be able to run the whole length. I’ve been running for a minute (or as...
Red, White & Boom
Remember a few weeks ago when I said I wasn’t going to have a bucket list. Instead, I was going to use the Jared Allen philosophy of finding something to do.. and then do it?
I’ve found an adventure: I’m going to run a half marathon.
Lots of people run… and I’m going to be one of them. I have a huge path outside my front door, and the lakes are just feet away from...
The Twins - a player's perspective
I sometimes wonder if the players take these losses as hard as the fans do. It’s much harder being a fan than a player.. they have control, they know they did their best (or if they didn’t). We just sit and watch.. then react.
Anyways, I came across a blog that Michael Cuddyer wrote during the past season for MLB.com. It’s really good… and puts the last games of the season...
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
…which sucks because it’s OCTOBER!!
This is the view outside my bedroom window. Yup. Ick. Where’d fall go? Where did summer go? *sigh*I know, it’s Minnesota. We’re supposed to be used to it. I don’t mind snow that much… but I don’t like it when it comes this early. Hopefully this snow won’t stick. But still, I don’t want Mother Nature...
Division Champs!
I don’t have pictures to show you… just a very sore throat and permanent grin on my face… but the Twins are the AL Central Division Champs!
I, along with 54,088 others, sat, watched, waited and finally celebrated. Ok, I also cried. The Twins were not supposed to make it this far. Statistically, they were out of the running. Three weeks ago, people had counted them out. Then they...
So, I ran in a marathon...
This weekend has been so much fun, and inspirational. Let’s see, where to start…
Friday I went to a friend’s benefit for ALS. Doctors diagnosed Mike with ALS last year when he was 24. This year, 350 friends and family got together to raise money for ALS research. The event was a total success and raised $135,000. During a speech, Mike said something that made me think - when...
Big Weekend Coming up
This is a HUGE weekend for Minnesota sports.
Friday the Twins kick off their three final games in the Metrodome. They play Kansas City, so obviously I got tickets months ago… I’ll be at Saturday’s game. I’m sad that the Dome era is ending, but can not wait for the new outdoor stadium. Yay! Stay tuned for pics, I’ll post ‘em after the game.
Also on Saturday,...
