#tweetcrawl is sorta becoming a big deal
The website Secrets of the City, sort of a “here’s what’s happening in Minneapolis” website, posted an online article about the #tweetcrawl. It’s was a blurb from Katie’s blog. None the less, it’s pretty cool that word is spreading and its gaining familiarity. I predict in 2010 Tweetcrawls will be a big deal. You should pretty much start doing them now...
Dec 29th
In case you were wondering: the first #tweetcrawl will go down in the social media history books (databases?) as a success. About two dozen tweeters showed for the inaugural event. We sat around, ordered drinks and food. We also tried to tweet our orders (cuz we’re cool like that). Few of us knew one another, so it was a great way to meet other awesome people in the Twin Cities. Oh, and...

Tweetcrawl?? WTF is a Tweetcrawl?
There’s a new buzzword on Twitter: Tweetcrawl. WTF is a Tweetcrawl? It’s a fun way to drink and be social (with social media, of course!) Last weekend, my good friend Erica texted me: “Get on Twitter.. we r gonna drink! via tweet!” So I asked, “Not home. Where are you going? With whom?” To my surprise she said, “No.. literally. Like we r drinking at...

Back on the Bandwagon
I’m nuts. Crazy. Totally wacko. Why, you ask? I decided to sign up for another 5k: the Polar Dash. It’s in 8 days. So, I guess I’m back on the running bandwagon. It was a little impulsive on my behalf. I know. But, since hurting my calf, I’ve been afraid to run. My calf doesn’t hurt anymore, but I don’t want to hurt it again. The muscle pull was a huge...

Worlds Apart: Father Separated From Family by War
This is, hands down, one of the most important and heartfelt stories I’ve aired on the news. Last month, Don Shelby and photojournalist Tom Aviles spent a week in Iraq with the Minnesota National Guard 34th Infantry Division Red Bulls. While overseas, they spent time with Master Sargent Rich Kemp. Upon returning home to Minnesota, Tom met with Master Sgt. Kemp’s wife and two little...

Grain Belt Commercial Contest
I have some crazy-talented friends & coworkers. Seriously - they’re amazing to watch when they’re in their element. Grain Belt Beer is holding a commercial contest. The winner gets $1,500 & a year supply of beer. The rules are loose, so there’s a million directions contest entrants can go. Three of my coworkers entered the contest. They produced the commercials with...

One step closer...
I just registered for the 1/2 marathon. It’s the “Red, White & Boom Twin Cities Half Marathon.” It’s the first year of the race, so it’ll be pretty cool to run it in. The good news tonight is I’m one giant step closer to completing my goal. Hopefully it won’t be too hot. And if it is, I’ll be the one in the short shorts and tiny tank top trotting...

Snowmageddon is on its way to the Twin Cities. By tomorrow night, Minneapolis and St. Paul (and the rest of the state) will be under a thick blanket of white fluffy snow. It’s December, I suppose it’s time it looks like winter around here. With that said, I have a confession: Everyone has weird quirks. Everyone. Some people save old liquor bottles and line the top of their kitchen...

One & done!
I finished my first 5k! One is done and behind me. I did the Reindeer Run 5k yesterday and I finished. I didn’t do as well as I hoped, but I did it. I crossed hobbled my way to the end. Turns out, my leg wasn’t as healed as I hoped or expected. It felt fine in the morning, but about half way through, I realized I was hurting and needed to stop. So I walked the rest. I was...
