My good friend and co-worker Megan is raising $4,100 to run a half marathon. It sounds crazy, but it’s for a fantastic cause. The money goes towards the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help find a cure for blood cancers.
Megan has been personally touched by such diseases and has made it her mission to not only complete her first half marathon but to help out in the cause. And trust me, she...
Note to self: don’t become a reality TV star. Don’t become bankrupt. Don’t let VH1 turn my life into a TV show (twice).
Now that I’ve reminded myself which path to not go down… I can share what I did today. I went to child actor, Willie Aames’ house for a garage sale. Ames starred in Eight is Enough, Charles in Charge, and Celebrity Fit Club. he’s now...
Court-side Celebs
Celebrities don’t just sit court-side (cough, cough, Jack Nicholson)… they’re apparently coaching the teams. The Sporting Muse has posted coach/celebrity look-a-likes for the NCAA tournament. They’re pretty good.
Here are my favorites:
Okay, this one actually upsets me a little. Bill Self is a good lookin’ guy. Tom Arnold… not so much.
Tennessee head...
If you like it... put a bracelet on it?
Are you sick and tired of guessing if that cute guy in the bar is interested? Wonder if she’s got a man at home? Lucky for you, some entrepreneur has your heart (and money) on their mind. They created Single Bands. (Think LiveStrong bands, but this time yellow means you’re separated).
I’m going to start wearing a shirt that says “SINGLE.” That seems more appropriate...
Presidential Slip-Up
President Obama is catching a little flack this morning after an interview on Jay Leno. It was the first time a sitting president did late night TV, and he definitely wondered into uncharted territory. Obama and Leno discussed the AIG bailout outrage, life since talking office and his White House bowling skills. That’s when the president said he bowled a 129: “It was like Special...
New job!!
It’s official. I’m moving home to Minnesota. I got an amazing opportunity to work at the station I grew up watching. I’ll be producing at WCCO (yay!). It’s completely surreal, I’m beyond excited and extremely nervous.
The move to Minneapolis is bittersweet. Everyone has been so supportive and it means the world to me. I’ve met some of the most amazing people...
Lesson learned
I met a man that has lived a spectacular life. Tass Saada grew up as a Palestinian in Saudi Arabia. He trained and led attacks into Israel as a PLO sniper and chauffeur for Yassir Arafat. He grew up learning to hate Jews, Christians, Israelis, Americans, everyone.
Against the wishes of his father, he decided to study in America. In fact, he moved to Kansas City. This is where he says he learned...
Should you stay, or should you go?
The government is urging teens to stay away from going south of the border for spring break. According to numerous government agencies, going to Mexico is becoming increasingly dangerous.
As people try to cut back and save money, Mexico is a cheap alternative. You can pack into a hotel room, drinks are cheap and the sun and beach are free.
More than 5,000 people died last year from the increased...
Barbie is a badass
Barbie turns 50 on Monday… and to celebrate, she’s getting inked. The “Totally Stylin’ Tattoos” Barbie is in stores now.
It includes a set of temporary tattoos for the Barbie’s owner.
Shocker: parents aren’t happy.
But does it really matter? They weren’t happy when the uber skinny blond bombshell was debuted in the 50’s either.
I figure...
MMMbop... huh?
Hanson and the Smashing Pumpkins. One’s late 90’s pop, the other Mid-90’s grunge. Well, those two worlds are colliding. MTV Buzzworthy Blog is reporting Taylor Hanson has started a group with a founding member of Smashing Pumpkins. The band is called Tinted Windows. They’re an Indie-Rock type group. Their song “Kind of a Girl” is out in late April. You can...
Happy Square Root Day!
Hey math geeks: Happy Square Root Day! March, 3, 2009 (3/3/09) is square root day because three is the square root of nine, get it !?
Don’t forget to celebrate today, because the next one doesn’t roll around until April 4, 2016 (4/4/16)
But breathe easy, Pi Day is March 14 (3.14) each year. I’m already baking in preparation.
This morning, my coworker Mark suggested we also...
Trading badges for blogs
In an effort to save money and re-energize, the Girl Scouts are changing their traditional “do good” lessons by becoming more technology-friendly and interactive. The Washington Post reports, troops will begin video chatting with people around the country, learn how to become energy efficient and make healthy choices. To appeal to a younger crowd, college aged students will lead the...
Zero Energy.
I think there’s something in the air. I have had ZERO energy or motivation to do anything. I slept 12 hours last night, something I never get a chance to do. But when I woke up this morning, I was restless. I got up and went to the gym, now I’m home, back on the couch and BORED! The problem is, I don’t want to get up and do anything. Nothing sounds like fun and I don’t want...
