Rebecca: The All American Jew
Finally! An American Girl doll I can relate to!
The American Girl company announced it’s adding a new character to it’s collection: Rebecca Rubin. She’s a Jew living in New York. Seriously.
But she’s not your typical Big Apple JAP. She’s a Jewish-Russian immigrant living in the Lower East side circa 1914. And for those who aren’t familiar with NYC, that’s where all of the Jews lived once making it through Ellis Island.
Jewish leaders who have seen the doll and read the books say they’re pleased with the doll.
I enjoyed the Molly and Samantha books growing up, so I figure I’ll probably pick up these ones too.
