Miley Cyrus = Genius?

Okay, so my title is a little very misleading. Miley isn’t the genius … her people and Ticketmaster are.

Miley announced today she would be coming to the Target Center as part of her 2009 tour. And we all know what happens next: tweens across the Twin Cities freak out and insist their parents buy tickets buy tickets. Then scalpers buy mass amounts of tickets and *boom* tickets are $500 bucks a pop.

That’s not going to happen this time.

Ticketmaster is going paperless for Miley’s concert. So here’s how that works: You buy your ticket with a credit card. Then you need that credit card (plus the person’s license) when you go to the concert venue (in Minneapolis, it’s the Target Center). The ticket takers swipe your credit card and you get a little print out verifying your seats. This new process will prevent scalpers from buying/selling a huge amount of tickets because they’ll have to go in with the people who buy their seats to let them in.

And parents, that also means can’t just drop your tween off at the Target Center, you have to swipe your credit card with your license to get them in, so minus that headache of parking, waiting for doors to open, then walking back to your car, it’s really not that bad of a deal.

I hope it works. It seems like a good plan because you can’t lose or forget your ticket. I just don’t want to be there if the swiping machine breaks.
