Minnesota: 2 Kansas City: 0 (well, tonight.)

Little known facts: Twins are in Kansas City this weekend playing the Royals. The Chiefs are in the Twin Cities playing the Vikings. I used to live in Kansas City. Now I’m back in the Twin Cities.

I think more people expected me to be torn today. My co-worker Peter said he’s surprised I didn’t wear a Chief’s jersey and Royals’ hat into work (let the record state: I wore a Vikings t-shirt).

I’m a big Twins fan, but I’m trying to become a better Jared Allen from Sports IllustratedVikings fan (they only play 16 games, it can’t be that hard, right?). So I tried to find my old  Vikings gear to wear today. I could only find an old Randy Moss #84 jersey, and was sad to realize I couldn’t find my Jared Allen one.

I am upset there isn’t cuter apparel for girls to wear. Jerseys (whether they be football, baseball or hockey) are awkward and too big in the wrong places. The sleeves fall too long, they entire jersey is entirely too long, and they simply don’t fit girls properly.

The few women’s jerseys that are made, are typically pink. WTF? I want a REAL jersey, with the team’s REAL colors. No offense Vikings, but there’s nothing cutesie about wearing a pink and white #00 Jersey! So instead, I trekked into the little boy’s section in search for a new Vikes jersey to replace the one I can’t find. The only plus: little boy’s jerseys are waaaaay cheaper than the adult versions. I have seen the t-shirt jerseys that are cut for women, but let’s be honest, I shouldn’t have to search high and low to show my team spirit.

Once the shirt debacle was settled, the teams from Minneapolis totally kicked butt. Well, not really, but they were ahead when the games were done, and that’s what counts.

Vikes beat the Chiefs 13 to 17. And the Twins won by a run in the 10th. An overall good night for the hometown teams. :o)

Brett Favre photo courtesy Vikings.com Tonight, we got the first glimpse of Brett Favre tonight. It looks like he needs to stay retired get rid of the rust, but I will acknowledge he only practiced with the team for three days. He went one-for-four of four tonight, which is a little disappointing.

Favre wasn’t supposed to be the main event tonight. He went out, took a few hits, snapped the ball, and left fans wanting to see more.

I’m still not totally on the band wagon, but time will tell. If he can help the Vikes win, I’m on team Favre. If not, I’ll take it in stride and shrug it off. He, more than anyone, wants to prove he can win.
