I went to the State Fair over the weekend. It was amazing.. and I’m still exhausted. It was just as entertaining and fun as I remember. While the food is a good draw, I love the people watching. Because the weather was perfect (upper 70’s and sunny), the Fair was packed.
Oh, and we saw this beauty: HELLO MULLET! How hasn’t anyone said anything to these people before? It’s not cool.. or funny.
Well, ok, sorta funny...
I talked my mom into going down the Big Yellow Slide, bumped into a few friends, saw some uniquely Fair things (including a golf ball that lights up when it’s hit & has a Jayhawk on it) and, of course, ate some good food.
Ask anyone who’s been to the Fair before and they’ll tell you each year, they eat the same thing as the year before, and try a few new things. This year was no different.
Don’t be scared, I’m about to list out everything we ate. I saw “we” because I went with my parents, so with the exception of a two Diet Cokes, an Ice Tea and the Roasted Corn, we shared everything.
Ok, here I go:
Polish hot dog, Dole Whip, 3 Diet Cokes, Teriyaki beef jerky,
Pronto Pup, Corn nuggets, 2 Cheese Curds, 3 Iced Teas, 3 Roasted Corn, Mixed Stuffed Olives, Beer on a Stick (see left), Pina Colada in a Pineapple (that was mom’s), 2 Grilled Chicken, Australian Deep Fried Potatoes, Pot Roast Sundae, Deep fried pickes (yuck), Linenkugel (beer), Carmel Apple (that counts as a fruit, right?), A bucket of Sweet Martha’s Cookies, Salt Water Taffy (Dad brought home), Kettle Corn (also brought home).
We were there for just over nine hours, and my feet/ankles were throbbing. Most of the day we were walking around. Dare I say, I had cankles. :o(. I put them in an ice bath when I got home and passed out into a sugar/deep fried induced coma.
AKA: another successful trip to the State Fair.
