Woah. Fall is here.
Over the past week, the summer packed up and left town. It happened quick.
It’s sort of like a breakup that you don’t see coming. “I thought everything was going okay? But I said I loved you? Is there someone else? Why are you going?”
Right outside my apartment balcony is a huge tree, and the tree top is slightly higher than my building. I look directly out to leaves. Today, I look out and see a bright yellow patch of leaves. Golden yellow among the beautiful lush green leaves.
“What?” I think, “This can’t be right?! No! It’s not time yet!” Don’t get me wrong, I love fall. I love the beautiful red, orange and gold the maple leaves change in the fall. I love the smell of the crisp leaves in the cool air. Weather that’s warm enough to wear sandals, but cool enough to wear a sweatshirt.
But not yet.
Where’d summer go? Why does it have to end already? My only hope is that fall stays around for a while, so I’m not having this same freak out when it starts to snow.
