This is a HUGE weekend for Minnesota sports.
Friday the Twins kick off their three final games in the Metrodome. They play Kansas City, so obviously I got tickets months ago… I’ll be at Saturday’s game. I’m sad that the Dome era is ending, but can not wait for the new outdoor stadium. Yay! Stay tuned for pics, I’ll post ‘em after the game.
Also on Saturday, the University of Minnesota Gophers play the Wisconsin Badgers. The border battle is the longest football rivalry in Division one history. 118 years going strong… and this is the first year in a long time the Gophers stand a chance of winning the coveted Ax.
Sunday is the Twin Cities Marathon. I’m not running in it (duh), but many of my co-workers are. So I’ll getting up early in the morning cheering them on. Hell, if I were running 26.2 miles, I’d want as many people as possible cheering me on.
Sunday night I’m going to see this guy: Dan Rodriguez debut his new music video at the Fine Line. He’s a local artist and is AWESOME. A few of my friends are working on the video too, it’s going to be awesome, and I will definitely post the video. Until then, here’s a teaser.
Then on Monday, the Vikings take on the Packers for Monday Night Football. It’s so exciting. What I don’t get is why the players are downplaying this game.
Brett Favre said he’ll be emotional, but is preparing like it’s any other game. It’s not! Hello - Favre is playing against the team he made famous!! Argh. Just say it: “I want to beat Green Bay because they screwed me.”
And yes, I am well aware he screwed them: retiring, returning, maybe retiring, definitely not retiring. But the Pack screwed him too by trading him to the Jets. So now he’s with us. Take that you stinky cheese heads!
Also, you have to watch this video. Jared Allen (love him!) talks to the NFL Network about Monday night’s match up against the Green Bay Packers. I get giggly when I see him and all of his mullet glory. <3
