It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

…which sucks because it’s OCTOBER!!

This is the view outside my bedroom window. Yup. Ick. Where’d fall go? Where did summer go? *sigh*I know, it’s Minnesota. We’re supposed to be used to it. I don’t mind snow that much… but I don’t like it when it comes this early. Hopefully this snow won’t stick. But still, I don’t want Mother Nature getting any ideas and think it’s okay to snow this early in the season.

It’s adding insult to injury.

I spent most of the night reflecting on the Twins season that was. We can’t beet the Yankees. (I saw we, because obviously I play on the team). Although, this time, the Yankees didn’t beat us as much as we lost it ourselves. Simple fundamental staples were gone. The players fell apart.

Friday night Nick Blackburn pitched a great game. We were winning, so Joe Nathan was sent in. Then he forgot how to pitch. He gave up a hit, then a home run. The left field ump made a bad call, calling Joe Mauer’s smack to the outfield a foul ball: it not only hit about two feet in field, it also tapped Johnny Damon’s glove before bouncing out, it should have been declared a double. Then Carlos Gomez decided he’d overrun second base. You can’t make mistakes like that when you play the Yankees. We couldn’t bounce back.

Last night at home, Carl Pavano pitched a good game against Andy Pettitte. But base-running bit it us in the butt again. Nick Punto got tripped up at third. Our bats couldn’t meet up with the ball over the plate. Pettitte even took the bat away from Mauer. Fortunately Jason Kubel and Michael Cuddyer have been connecting as of late, so Joe was really needed behind the plate as opposed to at the plate.

It marked the 9th playoff loss for the team.

After the game, a highlight reel showing some of the best moments at the Metrodome played on the big screen. Not gonna lie, I did cry when they showed Kirby Puckett. There’s something about him that seems to be gone now that the Twins won’t be at the Metrodome. It was a nice run, but I’m ready to play outside. Even if that means sitting in the cold rain and bright sunshine with 100 degree temps.

Which, come to think of it, I wouldn’t mind the 100 degrees right about now.
