Shopping is both one of my favorite and least favorite things to do. I’m really good at bargain shopping and pride myself in finding a great deal. But I also hate scavenging through a store, carrying a load of clothes to the dressing room, trying each piece on and leaving with nothing. It’s so frustrating.
BTW: Have you ever noticed if you hair and makeup don’t look great, the outfits you try on actually look worse? Ok, maybe guys wouldn’t understand that… but trust me, fellas, it’s quite frustrating.
This past weekend in the midst of my birthday shopping binge, I tried some cute sweaters from H&M. My make up looked nice and I was having a great hair day, so I assumed I’d have no problem feeling cute in a new sweater. But there was one problem: the air is so cool and dry that trying on sweaters made my hair full of static. I couldn’t focus if the sweater looked good on me. My hair was EVERYWHERE! It was literally standing straight up (and every other direction for that matter). I spent more time trying to tame my hair than I did picking out the sweaters in the first place. I eventually put a little lotion on my hands and ran it through my hair - and poof - there went the good hair day.
I’ve since reverted to a little trick I learned years ago that works like a charm. From now on when I shop, I keep a dryer sheet in my purse. When my hair gets out of control from static, I run the dryer sheet over it, and *poof* the crazy hair is gone, and good hair day remains. The dryer sheets work the same way Static Guard does when you spray it on a comb or brush then run it through your hair - except it doesn’t mat down you hair and it can be reused. Plus, when you keep it in your purse, it keeps your bag smelling nice. ;o)
Also - I want to know why dressing room mirrors and lighting are so evil. Is there a good reason why fluorescent lights must be used? They’re so unflattering.. but we’ll have to get into that issue another day.
