If you haven’t heard by now, Viacom got pissed at Time Warner Cable and has threatened to pull the plug on 19 of its stations at midnight. That means, come 12:01, no MTV, no VH1, no Nickelodeon and no Comedy Central. Unless a deal is reached.

Here’s the Reader’s Digest version of the dispute: In February, all TV stations will have to broadcast in digital. Cable providers expect an influx in customers when Feb rolls around because cable will broadcast in HD. So Viacom wants a slice of the pie, and has asked for a fee increase around 30% for its channels. Time Warner says it would equate out to about 23 cents extra per customer bill.

So here’s my solution: charge me the extra quarter… give me my MTV and get over it.
