It’s just before 1 am in Israel… the sun has set, Shabbat is over and nearly ten thousand ground troops have invaded Gaza. For a week now, the Israeli Defense Force has been attacking the Gaza Strip trying to remove Hamas.

President Bush has been in constant discussion with Israeli and Palestinian leaders discussing a cease-fire. However, he said (and I agree) that it cannot be one sided, Hamas must agree to the terms and UN enforcement must be in place to ensure the truce is upheld.

This is what scares me: Hamas says Gaza will be turned into a “graveyard.”

Jeff leaves tomorrow. I know he’ll be fine. I’m still excited for him to go. The situation just makes me worried. However, Israel has pledged to protect civilians while destroying Hamas.
