Sorry procrastinators, you won’t have four extra months to prepare for the digital switch. Congress defeated delaying DTV until June 12th. This means, February 17th your unprepared analog TVs won’t work. 
Nielsen says 6.5 million households aren’t ready to give up their rabbit ears. But House Republicans, who were against the delay, pushing back the deadline would have confused the general public.
It’s not just TVs that are impacted by the digital transition. If the delay went though, TV networks would have likely continue eating the cost of broadcasting in both analog and digital. And when the digital transition occurs, wireless companies and emergency will get all those extra channels, making their job easier.
Yes, the government is running out of coupons so you may not be able to get a $40 coupon to help pay for the switch anymore. But guess what? You’ve had MONTHS of warning.
