Happy Bad Luck Day!

It’s Friday the 13th… you know what that means: stay away from black cats, broken mirrors and ladders. It’s the day that NOTHING good is supposed to happen. Well, I’m having a pretty good day, so take that karma!

I did some Googling and found the reason the number 13 is frowned upon. It’s because it’s considered an incomplete number. 12 is a rounded number, shows up in the Torah, Bible and naturally science (12 tribes of Israel, 12 apostles of Jesus, 12 months in a year). 13 is the bastard step child. It’s got an evil leftover.

So with the economy in its current state, should we worry about today’s market?  Our money is tied to the number 13.

A Wall Street Journal blogger found that on average, the stock market does not do worse on Friday the 13th; it does slightly better than average.

More money facts: The seals on the back of a dollar bill include 13 steps on the pyramid. There are 13 stars above the eagle’s head, 13 war arrows in the eagle’s claw and 13 leaves on the olive branch.

On second thought, maybe the number 13 is the problem with out economy…
