The government is urging teens to stay away from going south of the border for spring break. According to numerous government agencies, going to Mexico is becoming
increasingly dangerous.
As people try to cut back and save money, Mexico is a cheap alternative. You can pack into a hotel room, drinks are cheap and the sun and beach are free.
More than 5,000 people died last year from the increased violence. The country’s increasing drug and crime problems could put Americans in a sticky situation. Imagine drinking, wondering down a beach and showing up at the wrong place and the wrong time. There’s no doubt in my mind that some Americans will be targeted.
There’s also no doubt in my mind that lawmakers don’t want Americans spending money in another country - they want that money to stay within the borders.
Granted, staying in resorts or popular vacation spots like Acapulco and Cancun would decrease those changes ten fold. But this year, like years past, the same rules apply: be smart on spring break.
Given the increased warnings, would you go to Mexico?
