For those who aren’t as obsessed with the Twins as I am… I met a real life baseball legend today. Jim “Mudcat” Grant stopped by Fox 4 this morning.
Mudcat pitched for the Twins from 1964 - 1967. He won 21 games in 1965 and helped the Twins win the AL Central pennant. Mudcat has since became an ambassador for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and author. He’s a big deal.
Mudcat is in KC to host an event with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum for its Jackie Robinson Day Celebration. He was so nice and full of amaing stories of the “good old days.” I felt like a little kid. I was completely mesmerized by his stories about life on the road and what it was like playing ball in the 60’s and 70’s.
I had a blast talking to him. When he left, he reached over and gave me a hug. It was one of the coolest moments of my life.
